Not sure what you absolutely must buy to prepare for your water birth?   We've made it easy for you by creating a list of what we think is absolutely essential for you to buy.  This list simplifies your shopping experience.

This is what we suggest:

• La Bassine Birthing Pool: our top seller; non-toxic and the perfect shape.
• Basic Waterbirth System: a hose, adapter and air pump to go with the pool.
• Gloves: sterile synthetic gloves. You choose the size you need.
• Underpads: for staying dry during labor after your water breaks and for protecting your bed after the birth.
• Gauze: handy to have for birth and for postpartum.
• Flexible Drinking Straws: so mom can easily drink during labor and postpartum.
• Cord Clamps: for clamping the baby's umbilical cord after birth.
• 2 oz Bulb Syringe: for clearing the baby's nose after birth.
• Baby Hat: for keeping baby warm after birth.
• Adhesive Maternity Pads: perfect for the first few days postpartum.
• Perineal Rinse Bottle: add your favorite herbal tea to help sooth a tender bottom.

Using a Midwife?  Your Midwife probably has her own list of Essential Items.  If she is registered on our site then you can use her list instead.  Just locate your Midwife using the Shop by Midwife option in the Left Hand Column.   If she has a list you will see it in the Right Hand Column of her page.  Again you can add her list to your cart or simply print it for easier shopping. 

On some Midwife lists, there will be items that we do not sell on our site.  You will know which ones they are because there is no tick box beside them. These are usually common household items such as Olive Oil, garbage bags and the like that you can buy from your local supermarket or pharmacy.
